Can’t Hold Us Down - Christina Aguilera & Lil’ Kim [Stripped 2003].

Defines E X A C T L Y Demi’s situation right now. Y’all better listen to this.

My eyes are the color of red like the sunset.

Saying Demi’s a “good singer” is a sin. Excuse me, it’s impossible to not compare them. They both are the best vocalists Disney’s ever had. Christina is one of Demi’s BIGGEST influences and Demi loves her. Demi is 20 now, Christina is turning 32 on December. Of course, Demi’s not Christina. But at 19, she’s had a way better technique and control than most legendary artists at her age. Not to mention, she has one of the most powerful voices of her generation -if not the most powerful- although she’s demaged it over the years *cough* ED *cough* And this is not coming from me, this is coming from people who know what they’re talking about. Demi’s not Christina, but she will be AS good or maybe even better than Christina over the years.

ariellekebbel:

Let me take a minute to talk about something serious: Kelly Osbourne’s incessant comments about the weight of certain celebrities. Particularly, the way she seems to be attributing the word ‘fat’ to women with healthy bodies, and adding a negative connotation to the word.

I’ve just seen that Kelly, on her excuse-to-bully tv show Fashion Police, described Beyonce as ‘fat’ and ‘flabby’. She’s also called Christina ‘fat’ (once adding a certain word beginning with ‘c’ to that) multiple times since she gained weight.

Now, I don’t know about you, but when I look at the two most recent pictures of Bey and Xtina above, I see HEALTHY, CURVACEOUS, BEAUTIFUL women, most importantly… HAPPY women. I do not see ‘fat’, I see women. Human beings come in all shapes and sizes, and just become a woman gains weight, whether by choice or because she has very recently given birth to a baby girl that is likely way more important than maintaining a certain body weight does not mean that society and it’s ridiculous ideologies regarding ‘beauty’ can throw names at them left, right and center.

Some of you may be thinking, she only called them ‘fat’, it’s just a word (and called Xtina a cunt: and you may also think this is true but let me please remind you of Beautiful, the millions of dollars she’s raised for charity and the mysoginist bullshit she puts up with on The Voice and the constant press bullying she endures but let me not get into that) but ‘fat’ is way more than a ‘word’ in our society now. The word ‘fat’ has become a term meant to offend. Kelly uses it with cruel intent. And then we wonder, with shows like Fashion Police on air, why so many girls are developing eating disorders. Perfectly healthy females (and males) believe themselves to be ‘fat’ and therefore ‘ugly’ and put themselves through hell to achieve something that Hollywood has defined as ‘beautiful’.

Not to mention, Kelly Osbourne used to be overweight herself. Bigger than Christina and Beyonce for sure. She’s often said how she felt bullied because of that, and hated how people would call her fat etcetera, so please, someone, explain to me why she now finds it acceptable to dish out the same vile judgements.

Women like Christina and Beyonce, who embrace their curves and wear whatever they like and refuse to listen to the bullshit around them are the perfect examples for young girls. But they are constantly torn apart in the press as ‘fat’ and on TV shows by people like Kelly Osbourne and it absolutely sickens me. Instead of focusing on negativities that aren’t even there, how about we all understand that people deserve respect whatever size they are and can wear whatever makes them feel confident. The word ‘fat’ does not equal ‘ugly’ nor does gaining a few pounds automatically make you fat. If these women are fat, I officially give up on society.

FTR: despite allegations from Kelly Osbourne, Christina Aguilera never referred to her as ‘fat’ back in the day. In fact, Christina hasn’t once mentioned her name since a scripted skit over 10 years ago.
